# Active SIMs data usage reports
> Reporting to help you analyze and manage data usage across your fleet of active SIMs. Historical data usage reporting is provided by day, SIM, location, and session.
**Limited access:** Historical data usage reporting is available to organizations with an active contract, or over \$100 USD in monthly recurring charges and data usage. All other organizations have access to 90 days of [recent data usage](/dashboard/sims/sim-details-data-usage-recent-tab).
## Data usage by day
Summarize data usage across every SIM in your fleet using the Usage by Day report in the **Overview tab**. This report provides an overall count of SIMs, average data usage, and summarized data usage by day for the date range selected. This report is a useful way to get a sense of overall data usage, and for organizations with a single fleet or device type to view high-level data usage behavior.
## Data usage by SIM
A series of reports that break down data usage by SIM in the most common ways that we find customers analyzing data usage **per SIM**:
* **Overall data usage**
Used for high-level reporting and overall data usage analysis.
* **Data usage by day**
Used for detailed troubleshooting of connectivity issues over time, analysis of carrier outages, or pinpointing SIM or network issues.
* **Data usage by location** *(country and network with lat/long)*
Used to analyze regional SIM usage, especially for organizations with global deployments. Used to analyze and optimize data plan selection and coverage areas.
* **Data usage by network**
Identifies SIM connectivity behavior and data usage across networks, especially useful for organizations with Outage Protection.
Active SIMs usage by network report
* **Data usage by connectivity profile**
Identifies SIM connectivity behavior and data usage across connectivity profiles, especially useful for organizations with Outage Protection or large fleets.
* **Outbound SMS**
Situationally useful report for organizations that make heavy use of SMS messaging for device communication or configuration.
## Data usage by location
A less used report, but is helpful for organizations with global deployments to understand regional data usage and network connectivity behavior, drill into regional usage, and identify opportunities for optimizing coverage areas. (It also shows well in sales conversations.)
## Data usage by session
This feed of organization-level session usage is a troubleshooting tool to get the most detailed level of data usage information for specific SIMs. Provides extremely granular usage information at the Session level and is meant for detailed troubleshooting or reporting in Excel after filtering down the data.
Historical data usage is available for at least 365 days and is updated every 60 minutes.
