# What data plan should I choose?

> Selecting the best data plan for your fleet(s) will vary based on your unique use case, deployment locations, and hardware.

## What are Hologram's default data plans?

All organizations have access to our **Global G3 Standard Flat Rate** pay as you go data plan, with a single rate across 165+ countries and 310+ networks, flexible enough for any deployment. This is the most flexible and appropriate payment method for most of our customers. Pay only for the data you use, as you use it, at a fixed rate.

Data usage is charged per KB to your account balance after your SIM stops transmitting data, when a data session closes. You can optionally limit data usage with [data usage limits](/guides/billing/manage-fleet-data-usage).

Organizations with other SIMs or profiles may have access to our **Global Standard Flat Rate** data plan, which has a higher rate than the Global G3 Standard Flat Rate plan, but offers coverage to a wider range of SIMs and profiles. Other plan types we offer:

* **Included data** plans that include a fixed amount of prepaid data at a discounted rate, the best choice for data usage you can predict or when you need a fixed monthly rate per SIM.
* **Data pools** that let you share data across all the SIMs in your fleet.
* **Network-level billing** with variable rates per network so that you're getting the lowest possible rates based on your deployment.

## Optimizing data plan selection

    Select a **Pay as you go** data plan and monitor data usage for the first month. Once you have a better idea of your usage modify your data plan accordingly.

    If you use smaller amounts of data over your 30-day billing cycles, we generally recommend a **Pay as you go** data plan.

    Consider a **Included data** plan that most closely matches your usage and deployment area. Prepaying for data in advance can help you save on the cost of data.

    While the SIM is not being used, switch to a **Pay as you go** data plan or pause your devices to avoid prepaying for unused data.

    If your devices need to pause during predictable time frames, qualifying organizations working with our sales team can set up data plans with zero-data rates that are charged at a cheaper rate if they use 0 bytes of data in a month.

    You might qualify for scaled pricing with lower prices as your fleet grows.
