# Use Hologram docs with AI

> Connect Claude, ChatGPT, or your coding assistant to Hologram's documentation to find guides, API examples, and answers with source links. Connecting an AI tool to our documentation lets you search guides, look up API examples, and get answers with links to relevant documentation without leaving your workflow.

Hologram provides a hosted documentation server using the Model Context Protocol (MCP), a standard for connecting AI tools to external sources. **No Hologram account or API key is required.**

## Connect your AI tool of choice

You need an AI tool that supports remote MCP servers. Custom MCP availability depends on your tool and workspace settings. If you cannot add a server, check with your workspace administrator. Connection settings:

| Setting | Value |
| - | - |
| Name | Hologram Docs |
| Server URL | `https://docs.hologram.io/mcp` |
| Authentication | None |

Enable the server and ask your assistant to search Hologram's documentation. Check that it returns relevant source links.
  </Tab>

## Try these prompts

Once connected, ask your assistant to use Hologram Docs:

* "Find the Hologram APN settings and explain how to configure my modem."
* "Find Hologram's connectivity troubleshooting guide and walk me through the checks."
* "Find a Python example for sending an SMS through the Hologram REST API. Use placeholders for credentials."

Include your device model, programming language, or the feature you're working with to help your assistant find relevant guidance.

## What the connection can access

The connection searches and reads Hologram's public documentation. It cannot view your account, inspect your devices, activate or pause SIMs, or send messages unless you specifically choose to provide API access. Your assistant can also report documentation issues to our team.

Ask your assistant to include source links so you can review the guidance and any generated code before using it.
