Why would I want to manually switch profiles?

Sometimes you may want to steer your SIM to connect a specific to a specific carrier or set of networks. We see this happen most often in three cases.
  1. When an organization with access to Tier-1 carriers in the United States or Canada has a SIM that has fallen back to a backup Global profile, but wants to switch back to the Tier-1 profile.
  2. In rural deployments where there might be poor connectivity on a specific network in a specific region, and switching profiles provides better connectivity.
  3. In global deployments where a device travels internationally and changes profiles regularly, to prepare a device in advance for travel to a new region or country.

How can I switch profiles manually on a Multi-Core SIM?

You can change profiles manually on a Multi-Core SIM by using the Switch profiles action in the SIM’s details page.

Switch profiles

Learn how to switch profiles manually in your dashboard.
We limit the ability to switch profiles to SIMs that are actively able to use data. If your SIM’s data usage is paused, you will need to resume it before trying to switch profiles. This option will only appear for a SIM if its profile is able to be switched.

How long does it take to switch profiles?

Switching profiles should take under 10 minutes for most SIMs. However, this process can take longer if the SIM isn’t immediately able to connect to the profile you are switching to. Switching to a SIM profile with Global coverage generally takes place in under 2 minutes. Switching to a SIM profiles with Tier-1 carrier coverage can occasionally take as long as 45 minutes if the SIM isn’t immediately able to connect to the network.
