Note: Hologram recommends rebooting your device instead of using a network refresh if your device is physically accessible.

Which SIMs can perform a network refresh?

SIMs that meet both of these conditions can be refreshed:
  • The SIM is in the Ready or In testing status (LIVE or TEST-ACTIVATE network state).
  • The carrier for the SIM’s enabled profile supports update location. G2 and US2 profiles, for example, don’t support update location requests.

How to refresh a single SIM

  1. Open a SIM from the SIMs pages or using global search.
  2. Click the Manage SIM menu at the top of the page and choose Network refresh….
  3. Review the details, then click Submit network refresh.

How to refresh SIMs in bulk

  1. Navigate to the SIMs section in your dashboard and open the Active SIMs page.
  2. Use filters to find and select up to 10 SIMs you want to refresh.
  3. Click the Manage SIMs menu at the top of the list and choose Network refresh….

How to perform a network refresh using the REST API

REST API endpoint

Update location / Network refresh POST /links/cellular/updatelocation
The REST API works differently from the dashboard:
  • You pass profile (cellular link) IDs, up to 10 per request.
  • If any profile in the request fails a check, the whole request is rejected and none of the profiles are refreshed.
  • Add ?preview=1 to run every check without sending the refresh. This lets you confirm a selection is eligible first.
