When to transfer SIMs
Common scenarios for SIM transfers:- Account restructuring: Moving SIMs to new organizational structures
- Customer handoffs: Transferring SIMs to end customers after deployment
- Business unit changes: Reassigning SIMs between departments
- Project completion: Moving SIMs from development to production organizations
- Asset management: Consolidating SIMs under different billing entities
Before transferring SIMs
Verify permissions
- Ensure you have Admin access to both source and destination organizations
- Confirm the destination organization exists and is accessible
- Check that both organizations are under the same parent account
Review transfer impact
- Tags are removed: Device tags don’t transfer with SIMs
- Billing changes: Charges move to the destination organization
- Usage history: Historical data remains with the original organization
- Team access: Only destination organization members can access transferred SIMs
How to transfer SIMs in bulk
- Navigate to the SIMs page in your dashboard
- Filter for SIMs you want to transfer
- Select up to 10 SIMs by checking the boxes
- Click the Manage SIMs menu at the top of the list
- Choose Transfer SIMs between organizations
- Select the destination organization from the dropdown
- Review the list of SIMs to be transferred
- Confirm the transfer
What gets transferred
Included in transfer
- Device records: Complete SIM information
- SIM associations: SIMs remain linked to SIMs
- Data plans: Current plan assignments
- Usage limits: Custom data limits and thresholds
- Configuration settings: APN and connection settings
Not included in transfer
- Device tags: All tags are removed during transfer
- Usage history: Historical data stays with original organization
- Billing history: Past charges remain with original organization
- Team permissions: Access is determined by destination organization membership
Requirements and limitations
- Maximum: 10 SIMs per bulk transfer
- Admin permissions: Must be Admin on both organizations
- Same account: Organizations must be under the same parent account
- Device ownership: You can only transfer SIMs you own
- Billing responsibility: Destination organization assumes all future charges
Note: Tags must be recreated in the destination organization and reapplied to transferred SIMs after the transfer.
